Last week a two-day international conference "The Covenant of Mayors" - the Path to Sustainable Energy Development  of the Cities " jointly organized by Association" Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine "and the Kryvyy Rih Executive Committee of the City Council was successfully held in Kryvyy Rih. The conference was attended by mayors and persons responsible for energy policy of more than 35 cities as well as Ukrainian and international experts in the field of energy efficiency, representatives of public authorities and leaders of European projects implemented in this field.

The head of the State Agency of Ukraine for Efficient Use of Energy Resources Mr. M. Pashkevych addressed an official welcoming to the participants of the conference. In the solemn atmosphere the Mayor of Kryvyy Rih put his signature on the CoM Adhesion Form, which will be directed to the main office of "Covenant of Mayors" and thus complete the official procedure of accession. In addition, during the first day of the conference participants had the opportunity to hear information about Lviv Energy Agency, the experience of municipalities on the development and adoption of energy policies, reform of municipal power system and adapting the structure of municipal executive bodies to the needs of sustainable energy development. The existing SEAP models developed in Ukrainian cities were presented and afterwards the participants had the opportunity to take part in the discussions. At the end of the first day the presentations of the following international projects carried out in Ukrainian cities in the field of energy efficiency and sustainable development took place: "Mobility in Ukrainian Cities" (A.Wagner / GIZ), «Development of Eco-Innovations in the EU and Recommendations for Improving Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency in Ukrainian Cities "(V. Kyrylenko, an expert of the EU)," Capacity Building for Local Climate Protection in Ukraine "(Andreas Kress," Climate Alliance "). The next day, the leader of the last listed project together with experts from the Association "Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine" performed the seminar-training for energy managers of the cities. In addition, October 6, Kryvyy Rih City Government led by Mayor Yuri Vilkul organized the sightseeing of energy efficient and industrial objects of the region.
